General Service Terms • JL Academy Ltd"The Company" refers to JL Academy Ltd.
"The Client" refers to the organisation purchasing the Services.
"Services" refers to training courses, consultancy, audits, or online learning provided by the Company.
These terms apply to all services provided directly by JL Academy. Where specific licensed training (e.g., Timian Learning & Development courses) is provided, additional licensing terms apply (see Section 4).
2.1 Invoicing: Invoices are issued upon booking confirmation. Payment is due within 30 days of the invoice date or prior to the course start date, whichever is sooner.
2.2 VAT: All fees quoted are exclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT), which will be charged at the prevailing rate.
2.3 Funding: Where part-funding is applicable (e.g., the 25% 2026 offer), this must be agreed in writing prior to invoicing.
3.1 Ownership: All intellectual property rights in JL Academy proprietary courses, materials, and methodologies (including but not limited to Psychological Safety, Trauma Informed Debriefing, The 3-Question Protocol, and Diagnostic Audits) remain the exclusive property of JL Academy Ltd.
3.2 User Licence: Materials are provided for the personal use of the delegate only. They may not be reproduced, shared, resold, or used to deliver training to others without a specific "Train the Trainer" agreement or written licence from JL Academy.
Where the Services include courses certified by Timian Learning & Development Ltd (e.g., Positive Behaviour Management), specific IP regulations apply. Please refer to our Timian Licensing & Partnership Policy for full details regarding Timian materials.
JL Academy carries full Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurance. Our liability for any claim arising out of the performance of services shall be limited to the amount of the fees paid by the Client. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Timian Licensing & Regulatory Disclosure
Specific Terms for Timian CoursesRegulatory Status
JL Academy Ltd is an authorised Timian Academy. We are licensed to deliver training within the United Kingdom and International Schools Overseas for the Health, Education, and Social Care sectors.
Providers that are approved will have a certificate from Bild Association of Certified Training containing the Restraint Reduction Network approved logo.
While JL Academy delivers the training, we do not represent ourselves as the BILD ACT Certified Training Service (CTS). The BILD ACT Certified Training delivered by JL Academy belongs to Timian Learning & Development Ltd, who are the registered BILD ACT CTS.
BILD ACT Delivery Standards: Who Can Deliver?
For training services to be certified and compliant, BILD ACT regulations state they must meet three strict criteria. The training must be:
- Delivered by an approved training organisation
- Using an approved curricula
- Delivered by an approved Senior Trainer or within an approved affiliate provider organisation
Please Note: If any of the above criteria are not met, the training is not certified and therefore not compliant.
Approved Senior Trainers
JL Academy operates in full compliance with these standards.
James Hourihan is a registered Senior Trainer with Timian Learning & Development.
Furthermore, any future trainers trained by JL Academy who successfully achieve Senior Trainer status within Timian are also fully authorised to deliver this certified training. This ensures robust compliance and continuity for your organisation.
Timian Intellectual Property
For all Timian Certified Courses (including Positive Behaviour Management and Train the Trainer), all proprietary training materials, protocols, workbooks, and certification standards are the exclusive property of Timian Learning & Development Ltd.
Materials provided during these courses may not be reproduced or used to train others unless you hold a valid "Train the Trainer" affiliate agreement directly with Timian.
Data Sharing & Certification
To issue BILD ACT / RRN compliant certificates, JL Academy is contractually required to share specific delegate data (Name, Organisation, Assessment Results) with Timian Learning & Development. This data is processed solely for the provision of training and certification.
